I saw a story by a Canadian journalist who was irate because CNN's top story was not the Canadian soldiers who were mistakenly killed by American fire.

As an American, I would like to (un)officially make the statement that should have come out of Washington immediately upon receipt of this information and covered by all American media.

We are saddened and regret the loss of lives suffered by one of our treasured allies during a wartime mission. The American military regrets what can only be described as an utter tragedy resulting in loss of life of several brave Canadian soldiers who gave their lives with courage and integrity, fighting terrorism for the benefit of the free world.

The fact that any lives are lost during this mission to wipe the world of terrorist action is a sad reality.

In times of war we hope for the best and above all, cherish the men and women who banded together, overlooking Nationality, in support of the fight to maintain peace for the citizens of the world.

This week we lost several Canadian champions of this fight and in honoring the memory of their work and their courage, we will not relent in our fight.

We will continue to work hand in hand with our allies to succeed in our mission of liberating the honest citizens of terrorist-held countries and we will work to better ensure that no other lives are lost in mistaken fire.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those deceased soliders. We offer them comfort in the knowledge that those soliders were hero's in this war, that they did not die in vain and that they will never be forgotten.

We ask the citizens of the world to maintain their resolve in the fight against terror and to commerate the lives of these brave men who gave their lives for a noble cause.

And this is why I should be President of the United States.
